I Don't Hold Grudges. My Father Did. I Can't Forgive Him For That.

What we have here is one helluva update to report in this blog post’s opening paragraph. Wander over to /dash/global and you will witness my marvels! A snazzy looking live dashboard! With filtering done by mouse click! If that isn’t wondrous, then I don’t know what is. That’s the new part for me. Having two Plotly figures on the same Dash app, having the state of one figure affecting the other, and changing the state by mouse action. All three novel techniques accomplished in one fell swoop. I feel like Hannibal at the end of an episode of The A-Team, as he smokes a cigar contemplating just how well his plan came together.

To balance out the gravity of such a big update to the website, I will talk about a very, very niche movie. Not even a good one at that. An utterly forgettable supernatural thriller from the 90s with Scott Bakula as a tough talking detective who specializes in spooky cases. What brought me to it was Clive Barker putting his name in front of the title, Lord of Illusions. I have heard from a friend who usually recommends books that really touch me in my tender lovecrafts speak well of Clive Barker, and even mentioned this movie before. There was a touch of confusing pain-for-pleasure motifs in the movie. I think being a film marketed for wide release in 1995 constrained the hellish S&M I imagine Cliver Barker has in the novel and wanted to stuff into the movie.

I suppose I ought to give the actual book a try. Or any Clive Barker book. Hellraiser is the more notable one.
