Do Neural Nets Dream Of Modeled Sheep?

2023-Sep-24

Cascades of updates these days. I’ve gotten a taste for CSS so I’m doing what I can to make my website look like something somebody would pay for. I don’t necessarily like doing web design, but I do not want to pay anybody to do the job. I suppose I got that from my old man. If he could fix it himself he would prefer to do it. I think if I learned better how to debug web apps or to really harness my IDE’s capabilities it would feel less tedious.

Some of the mysteries of the non-cascading concepts of CSS are starting to make sense. The ::before or ::after pseudo stuff, and z-order reminds me of my PhotoShop days.

I think the only template I have yet to give the unified JS/CSS treatment in my website is the artist catalog section. That might require some more planning before stumbling in with the divs I’ve put into my main style sheet.

Although I have seen that The Venture Brothers movie is available, I have yet to see it. It’s there in the menu of the streaming service. What holds me back is knowing that the thrill of finding out the big backstory mysteries to the show will stop after that. When it comes to internal consistency and backstory payoff, Venture Brothers is the closest I've seen to TV show perfection. Since I noticed the movie’s availability I have sampled around the best of the seasons with my girlfriend, who is a stranger to the larger mythos behind the clever hipster jokes of each scene.

The last two seasons I saw in an adult haze. They premiered well after my thirties. Work, or family, or not-TV had taken up my time. I could not savor each episode for comic book geek or art rock references. Not like I did for the first four seasons. I had the bountiful time of my 20s to watch each episode and comb the internet for all the musicians mentioned, or sometimes appeared as pivotal characters.

I have been watching this TV show for almost 20 years. A big theme about this show is about a boy wonder becoming a super scientist. I wonder how the show will finish with Hank and Dean more than anybody else- moreso Hank.
