Welcome to the public web log of Fred Lambuth
There was a bit of back and forth effort on updating this website. I did make a new database table to hold the blog entries, with a BLOB type column to hold a photo to go with each post. However, getting Flask to display this photo without actually writing the image to disk was way more effort than I wanted to put in. Instead I dumped a bunch of my own artwork into my web server, renamed them pic_1 - pic_N so they match up with each blog post’s row id. It’s an inelegant solution. I tell myself I’ll make it more sophisticated later.
From now on, all things are open for critique here at fredlambuth.com. I’m not reading enough to keep it to just books, and lately I only play Red Dead 2, as far as video games. This is the beginning of my Andy Rooney phase of this blog. Today’s topic: Taco Palenque. It is consistently awesome.
However, I have read more than fifteen percent of a book the past few days, so I do have some literary review fodder. It’s a memoir called Tastes Like War. It was pushed on me when I opened my library phone app to find a new book. The app had it on the landing page. The National Book Prize finalist gold sticker on the cover got me to check it out without looking past the cover. So far the writer has really proven her prose skills. I find her voice somewhat crabby, but that’s hardly a complaint.
Tom Jones was touring through Texas last week. Had I known I would have bought tickets in advance. Gawd I hope I get to see that dude perform before he or I die.

Tom Jones is a fine performer, but in my heart of hearts I long for Barry Manilow.
