Imagine All The People At A John Lennon Concert

2023-Jun-17

Blimey! This is a quick wraparound! I am delaying my git operations by a few hours so this blog would publish one calendar day after the last one- which as of the time of this writing- was three or so hours ago. I could have lumped together the updates that come with this blog_post+git pull into the previous entry, but the amount of options openai’s chatbot has opened my eyes to were a tad overwhelming. Instead of writing solid, clean, easy to build upon code that really is ‘ready for production’ I pushed out the new hotness that sizzled my hands. When I make rapid updates that’s not so bad like in this instance.

When I have a long period in between visiting this codebase, those swashbuckling vanguards I take with the stuff chatgpt shows me become a puzzle to solve rather than a tool I can use right away. Sometimes I find myself hacking away a whole lot of coding backflips that do what much simpler stuff can do.

This is a very not official fredlambuth.com endorsement of Wallpaper Engine- a Windows app that lets you manage a multi-monitor setup in almost any fashion you can conjure- as productivity enhancement software. Thanks to this wonderful piece of software I got in a Humble Bundle for a few bucks, I currently have a smooth looping background of Green Hill Zone from Sonic 1 on my lower monitors and a USS Nostromo ship’s computer display of my Spotify listening data. Having such a ‘good kind of cyberpunk’ hardware rig makes doing work stuff on the weekends not so vicious on my senses. Also I have found that using audio visualizers when I have work calls can up my focus on the more dreary subjects of my workload.
