Object Relational Mapping of the Stars

2023-Feb-27

The latest update is cursory progress. Once I rebuild the database structure my app should be using, these fixes I put in will be erased. They are there to get the HTML to display what I want, but there are several cases where this functionality will be broken. I thought about making some more string-to-date fixes in my routes or templates. Instead I took notes about how I ought to be structuring my tables, and structuring the objects in my Python code that are mapped to these tables. Anyways, the Spotify artist catalog index now omits the word The as a prefix when indexing by first letter. I did not remove them from the T category. I also added a tenure length counter on the homepage for my top track.

As for books, I finished the punishingly grim Bloodlands. The last chapter dealt with the second half of 1945, when the war in Europe was not a shooting war anymore. This ultimate chapter was just like all the others: a blow by blow description of mass murder events. This time though there were also mass rapes, or at least explicit cataloging of them. For a change in pace I chose a book about the Barbazon hotel in New York as my next audiobook.
