Welcome to the public web log of Fred Lambuth
I had not gotten to making a new database to allow the blog table to have a BLOB type column. The idea of making a complete overhaul to the data architecture breezed into my thoughts when I thought about how the fixes I want to make will not be usable if I were to do that. And I do. I have read a few chapters from some books about data modeling. Those have led me to believe I ought to make some changes so that I can avoid problems that even I can foresee. I like to think that is a big step in my coding abilities. Thinking about what to incorporate into my current code so that expansion upon that will be easy or to avoid known limits.
There are minor changes though. The dashboards no longer have the default tab title. Behind the scenes I unified all the CSS stuff into fewer templates with the pages themselves being light on actual text because they inherit all their styling.
Book talk this time is a high note. The Andromeda Strain has been a tight, crisp, and very believable story of the Cold War era US military dealing with a very deadly extraterrestrial microbe. The past two fiction books I read were science fiction stories with ultra-capable protagonists outwitting every situation the chapter put them in. This less glamorous prose about professionals working on a global crisis is a refreshing change.
