Kagey B Is A Good Name For A Russian Rapper

2023-Jun-04

You know what? No updates. Not one. I’ve been busy. The day job has been heavy on the coding each day, so there is not much gas left in the tank when I sign off for the day. I suppose I could clean up some of the CSS by getting rid of all the per-element styling and put them into a base stylesheet. Yet, I suppose not.

I finished a super long book! It’s been a while since that happened. Let alone in such a short span of time. I finished that biography of Kim Philby I mentioned in a prior post. Ben Macintyre delivers once more. Chapter after chapter brings the double agent that betrayed all of the Western side of the Cold War’s spy community closer to his dearest friends giving up on his claims of innocence. I wanted to see Philby’s most trusted friend in the spy game get a denouement scene in the form of a long debriefing cataloging all the deaths he caused.

Spy stories about double agents intrigue the hell out of me. I’m curious to see the thought process of somebody who so willingly takes up such a stressful occupation. Juggling so many stories for employers, friends, and governments is not a skill I have at all. I’d also feel like such a damn fool if one of my coworkers/friends of many decades turned out to be the very enemy I had been fighting professionally. That’s a big punch in the gut that would scramble my very identity. Make me fear that any of my relationships could be a ploy in a larger scheme.

p.s. The bonafides for this book is the afterword written by John Le Carre!
