Priest, Minister, and a Rabbi Walk Into A Navbar

2023-Mar-08

This might be the most minor update to report in this blog post series. I had made several back and forth changes with the CSS/HTML. Often I am guilty of thinking ‘more is more’ with visual design. My Django site was clear evidence of that urge. Since I had made the switch to Flask, along with a new templating engine that swept in a CSS rewrite, I have fought those urges.

For a moment I toyed with importing a non standard font into the site. I saw Futura and it charmed the socks right off of me. However, I didn’t understand any of the tutorials that talked about adding a font to my server or making some reference to a font family by a URL out there on the web. There were a lot of new words in those instructions.

That Big Roads book I mildly razzed for being long-winded bare reporting still stands, but the third act chapters at least mention the backlash that I thought highway construction would have from the start. Apparently civic input to the politicians and engineers orchestrating these roads was a mad lust for roads up until the late fifties. The author, Earl Swift, keeps the utterly anti-sensational manner of writing, pitting names against names in courts, or committees, or counsels with national leaders. This book is non-fiction as fuck.
